Last updated October 21, 2026
This policy explains how mul ("mul", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our website and services. mul is operated by Larry Match LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details, such as your name, email address, and sign-in information.
- Your month and year of birth, which we ask before you start, to confirm you're 18 or older.
- Content you provide to make a film: photos, voice recordings, written descriptions, and names or details about the people in them.
- Messages, feedback, and reports you send us.
- Your display name, which appears with any film you make public.
- Purchase information, if you buy something from us, such as what you bought and when. Card details are handled by our payment processor, and we don't store them.
Information collected automatically
- Basic usage information, such as pages visited and actions taken, which we use to keep mul working.
- Device and log information, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps.
- Information from cookies, described in section 5.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- make, deliver, and support your films;
- create and manage your account and process purchases;
- keep mul safe, including reviewing content and preventing misuse;
- communicate with you about your account, orders, and changes;
- operate and improve mul, using usage and service data and feedback;
- comply with law and enforce our terms.
Public films. Films are public by default. A public film, and the people, faces, and voices in it, can be seen by anyone on the mul website, and shared from it, along with your display name. You can turn public off for any film, at any time, by choosing private in that film's settings, and it will then be visible only to you and the people you share it with. Please think about who appears in a film before leaving it public.
Ads, social media, and marketing. We'll ask you first, in writing, before using your content, your films, or anyone shown or heard in them in ads, on social media, or in any other marketing.
3. AI processing
mul uses artificial intelligence, run by us and by trusted service providers, to turn your content into films and to check content for safety. Our providers process information only on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes. We don't create or store biometric identifiers or face templates. We don't use your photos or voice recordings to train AI models.
4. How we share information
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share it only:
- with trusted service providers who help us run mul, such as hosting, payments, AI processing, customer support, and email, under contracts that limit their use of it;
- with people you choose to share a film with, and with anyone who visits mul when a film is public;
- when required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or mul;
- as part of a merger, sale, or similar transaction, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
5. Cookies
We use only the cookies mul needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering an order in progress if you're buying something. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide mul. You can delete your account at any time in your account settings or by emailing privacy@mul.is. Deleting your account removes your account data, but delivered films may be kept, because mul has its own rights in the films it makes. To have a film removed, email help@mul.is or privacy@mul.is and we'll delete it from our active systems. Backup copies are deleted within 30 days. We keep limited records longer only when the law requires it, for example transaction records for tax purposes.
If you submit a story during beta, we keep your voice notes and story details until we make your film, or for up to 12 months if we haven't, unless you ask us to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete them anytime at help@mul.is.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption and access controls. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
8. You must be 18 or older
mul is only for people 18 and older. Privacy laws in many places set special rules for younger people, and the technology providers we rely on require their services to be used by adults. Please don't create an account for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact privacy@mul.is and we'll delete it.
9. Your privacy rights
Your rights. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights over their personal information. These states include California (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others such as Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, and Rhode Island. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know and access the personal information we have about you, including the categories, sources, purposes, and recipients;
- get a copy in a portable format;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information. Delivered films are removed when you ask us to remove them, as described in section 6;
- opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, and certain profiling. We don't do any of these.
- limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it only to provide mul.
How to make a request. Email privacy@mul.is with your request. We'll verify your identity, usually by confirming the email on your account, and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you, as the law allows.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. We'll respond within the time your state's law requires. If you're not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
Authorized agents. You can use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask for proof of the agent's authority and verify your identity directly.
No discrimination. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
California notice. In the past 12 months, we've collected identifiers, account and purchase records, photos and audio recordings, and internet activity information, for the purposes in section 2. We disclose these only to service providers for business purposes. We haven't sold or shared personal information.
Biometric privacy. Some states, including Illinois, Texas, and Washington, have laws about biometric information. We don't create, collect, or store biometric identifiers or face templates from your content.
Where we're based. mul is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version with a new date. For material changes, we'll notify you by email before they take effect. We won't use information we already have in a materially new way without your consent.
