Terms of service

Last updated October 21, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and mul ("mul", "we", "us"). mul is operated by Larry Match LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801. Please read them carefully, especially section 17, which covers how disputes are resolved, including arbitration and a class action waiver.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, checking the box when you submit a story or make a purchase, or otherwise using mul, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use mul.

2. mul is in beta

mul is in beta. Submitting a story is free during beta. We aren't making films yet, and we'll email you when we're ready to make yours. We can't promise when that will be, or that every story will become a film. If we start charging, we'll show you the price and ask you to agree before you pay anything. Beta features may change, pause, or stop.

3. You must be 18 or older

You must be at least 18 to use mul. Privacy laws in many places set special rules for younger people, and the technology providers we rely on require their services to be used by adults. Please don't create an account for anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us information, contact us at privacy@mul.is and we'll delete it.

mul is based in the United States. You're welcome to use it wherever you live, as long as that's allowed where you are.

4. Your account

You're responsible for your account and everything that happens under it. Keep your login details secure, give us accurate information, and tell us right away at help@mul.is if you think someone else has accessed your account.

5. Your content and the license you give us

"Your content" means the photos, recordings, text, and other material you give us. You keep whatever rights you have in it.

To run mul, you give us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, store, copy, process, adapt, edit, display, and create derivative works from your content and from the films and other output mul makes for you. We use this license to:

  • make, deliver, fix, and support your films;
  • operate, secure, and maintain mul;
  • fix problems and keep the quality of mul high.

You also consent to us, and to the service providers working for us, processing the people, faces, and voices in your content for these purposes. We don't create or store biometric identifiers or face templates. We don't use your photos or voice recordings to train AI models.

We may also use usage and service data, and any feedback you send, to operate and improve mul.

Public films. Films are public by default. A public film appears on the mul website, where anyone can view it and share links to it. You can turn public off for any film, at any time, by choosing private in that film's settings. Once it's off, the film is visible only to you and the people you choose to share it with. You can also choose not to turn it on in the first place. While a film is public, you give us and other mul users permission to display, stream, and share it on and through mul, and to show your display name with it. Turning public off ends this going forward, though we can't pull back links or copies other people have already made.

Ads, social media, and marketing. We'll always ask you first, in writing, before using your content, your films, or anyone shown or heard in them in ads, on social media, or in any other marketing. Making a film public on mul is not that permission.

Deleting your account doesn't delete your delivered films. We may keep them under this license. To have a film removed, email help@mul.is or privacy@mul.is and we'll delete it, and the license for that film then ends, except for backup copies, which are deleted within 30 days.

6. Your promises

When you give us content, you promise that:

  • you own it or have the right to use it and to give us the license above;
  • you have permission to use the name, photo, and voice of everyone in the story, and for anyone under 18, you're their parent or guardian, or you have their permission;
  • it follows these terms and the law.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't use mul to create, upload, or share:

  • any sexual content involving a minor. We report this to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement, and we close the account.
  • nudity or sexual content of anyone;
  • hateful, harassing, violent, or threatening material;
  • anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights, including copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights;
  • images or voices of real people who haven't agreed, or content made to deceive people into thinking it's real.

Also don't misuse mul itself. That means no reverse engineering, scraping, automated access, getting around our safeguards, or interfering with the service.

Public films. A public film must follow these rules too, and shouldn't share other people's personal information. We may switch a film to private, remove it, or limit or close accounts that break these rules.

We review content both automatically and by hand, and we may refuse, remove, or decline to make anything. You can report a problem with any film from its page or at help@mul.is.

8. About AI-made films

Your voice note is a starting point. Each film starts from your voice note, and we use a lot of creative and editorial judgment to turn it into a story. Your film may not match your voice note exactly. Scenes, details, words, and characters may be changed, added, or left out.

AI makes mistakes. mul is made with artificial intelligence, and AI isn't perfect. A film may have visual defects, inconsistencies from one scene to the next, odd details, or other errors. That's part of the trade-off that lets mul make a film in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional animation. We don't promise any film will be studio-level perfect. Minor imperfections aren't grounds for a refund; for a major problem, see section 11.

Tell us what you see. We're always improving mul and we want to hear about any issue you notice, big or small, at help@mul.is. Please watch each film before sharing it. You're responsible for how you use and share what mul makes.

What we do promise. Whatever story you bring happens in your own magical land. We promise a high-quality, delightful film that's well worth it.

9. Your films

The films mul makes for you are yours to keep, watch, download, and share for personal, non-commercial use, and you can keep doing that even after you close your account. Please download your films before asking us to remove them, because we won't be able to send them again afterward. Because the law on who owns AI-made works is still developing, we don't promise that a film can be protected by copyright, but this right to use it is permanent.

10. Our intellectual property and your feedback

mul, including its worlds, characters, music, artwork, design, software, and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights in them beyond the right to use mul as described here. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without any obligation to you.

11. Purchases and refunds

Purchases. Each film is a one-time purchase at the price shown before you pay. Payments are handled by our payment provider. You authorize us to charge your payment method for each purchase.

Refunds. Each film is made to order, so sales are final. We don't give refunds for minor imperfections, like the small flaws described in section 8. If there's a major problem with a film, email help@mul.is within 10 days of delivery. We'll review each request individually and, at our discretion, may offer a remake, a partial refund, or a full refund. This doesn't affect your rights to dispute a charge with your card issuer or any refund rights you have under applicable law.

Subscriptions. This applies only if we offer a subscription in the future. Before you subscribe, we'll clearly show the price, the billing frequency, that it renews automatically until you cancel, and how to cancel. We'll ask for your clear agreement and send you a confirmation. You can cancel online at any time, as easily as you signed up. We'll remind you before a free trial ends or a price changes. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep access through the period you've paid for.

12. Copyright complaints

We respond to notices of copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. To report infringement, send our copyright agent a written notice that includes:

  • your contact information;
  • a description of the copyrighted work;
  • where the material is on mul;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

Copyright agent: mul, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, copyright@mul.is.

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We close the accounts of repeat infringers when appropriate.

13. Termination

You can stop using mul and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access, or remove content, if you break these terms, if your use creates risk for others or for us, or if the law requires it. If we end your account without cause, we'll refund any purchased film we haven't delivered. Sections 4, 5, 7 through 9, and 13 through 19 continue to apply after your account ends.

14. Disclaimers

mul is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don't promise that mul will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any film will meet your expectations, match your voice note, or be free of the flaws described in section 8.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill;
  • our total liability for all claims relating to mul is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

16. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless mul and its members, employees, and agents from claims, losses, and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your use of mul, or your breach of these terms or the law. We'll tell you about any such claim, and we may take part in our own defense.

17. Resolving disputes

Informal resolution first. Before starting a formal claim, send a written notice to legal@mul.is with your name, account email, a description of the issue, and what you're asking for. We'll do the same if we have a claim against you. We both agree to try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days, including a phone call if either of us asks. Time limits for bringing a claim are paused during this period.

Small claims. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

Arbitration. Any other dispute relating to mul or these terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. We'll pay any arbitration fees beyond what the AAA's rules require a consumer to pay. Hearings may be held by video or in the county where you live. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could.

Class action waiver. You and we may bring claims only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims. If this waiver is found unenforceable for any claim, that claim will proceed in court, and only after any arbitrable claims are resolved.

Mass arbitration. If 25 or more similar demands are filed by or with the help of the same law firm or coordinated group, they'll be administered under the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules and heard in batches of up to 50, with one arbitrator and one set of fees per batch. Time limits are paused for demands waiting for their batch.

Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing legal@mul.is with your name, your account email, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out doesn't affect anything else in these terms.

Exceptions. Either of us may go to court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property, or the misuse of a person's name, image, or voice.

Courts. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be heard only in the state or federal courts in New York County, New York, and both of us consent to those courts. To the extent the law allows, both of us waive a jury trial.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and by the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict of law rules.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version with a new date. For material changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using mul after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply. Changes to section 17 won't apply to a dispute already noticed.

20. General

  • Entire agreement. These terms and our privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about mul.
  • Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver. Not enforcing a provision right away doesn't mean we've waived it.
  • Assignment. We may assign these terms, for example in a merger or sale. You may not assign them without our written consent.
  • Force majeure. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
  • Export and sanctions. You may not use mul in violation of U.S. export control or sanctions laws.
  • Notices. We may send notices to the email on your account. You can send notices to us at legal@mul.is.
